Jack is growing like a weed and pushing the limits everyday. He has now learned how to climb up on top of the couch and the fireplace. He has been working on some new teeth - his incisors.
His head has been feeling bumpy to me lately, so I am inquiring with his plastic surgeon.. but other than that, things are great. He is a sweet boy that is always on the go go go!

Is that a keloid?
After our last visit with Dr. Muhonen , he suggested that we go check Jack's scar with Dr. Jaffurs as he thought it looked like it was keloiding. Apparently this happens only 5% of the time and can be hereditary.
Well, unfortunately there is not much we can do to help it at this point - except massaging it for 20 minutes a day. The good news is that this doesn't seem to bother Jack. It will flatten out with massage but the width of the scar will not improve.
We may have to have the scar repaired in a couple of years. But Jack does not need to see Dr. Jaffurs for a year! That is great news, though we love everyone at his CHOC office and will miss them.

4 months post-op
It's been a while since I have written a post - and well, I think because things are going so well. Jack is right on target with all milestones and might be walking early. He was 8 months on February 25th and is pulling himself up on EVERYTHING…! He has also figured out how to crawl up the stairs and loves watching the kitty, squealing with delight when he catches a glimpse of her.
He had an appointment with Dr. Muhonen at 3 months post-op. Dr. Muhonen says he is "in the clear" neurologically now (whew!) and wants us to go have his scar looked at by Dr. Jaffurs since it looks like it is keloiding.
We will see Dr. Jaffurs next week.
Here are some current pictures.
Thank you everyone for their continued love and support.

Looking back, looking forward
Many nights I find myself laying in bed looking at photos on my iPhone. I always end up at either Jack's birth or his surgery. I get so emotional seeing pictures of him swollen and uncomfortable. Then I get to the pictures of Jack now. So happy and learning new things everyday. He is almost crawling, has two teeth, is eating solid food and sleeping through the night (finally!! Yay!)
Since two weeks of age, we had this surgery lurking over us. Now that we are two months post-op, I am thankful everyday that he is thriving and happy. Not to mention big sister Peyton, who had to endure emotional Mom and Dad and a baby brother that needed extra attention. I am amazed at her compassion for her brother and her understanding of what our family was going through. She is a special little girl and an awesome big sister.
